On Thursday, Hafiz Mohammad Fasihuddin “Fitrat,” Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces, visited the Khas-Kunar and Nurgal Districts with accompanying delegation, including the Deputy Director for Planning and Coordination, Operations Directorate, and the Deputy Engineering Director, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of National Defense. During this two-day visit, a comprehensive inspection of all affected areas was conducted, including more than eight hours of walking through inaccessible terrain.
The Chief of General Staff visited the initial Battalion of the First Border Brigade of the 201 Khalid Ibn Walid Corps, meeting Mawlawi Qudratullah Abu Hamza, Governor of Kunar, along with other civilian and military officials. He praised the country’s Air Force pilots for their dedication, saying, “You have played a vital and commendable role in saving the lives of our fellow citizens.”
Afterward, the Chief of General Staff and his delegation traveled to Nurgal district, where they visited the affected areas and met with the families of the victims to offer condolences. During the visit, over 10 million Afghanis in cash assistance from the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of National Defense were distributed among more than 1100 of the deceased, injured, and affected families.
Upon concluding his visit, the Chief of General Staff praised the cooperation of the defense and security forces, particularly the Air Force pilots who reached the disaster areas in record time, and assured the people that the Islamic Army stands ready to serve its fellow citizens with all available resources.
